Detailed Itinerary
At 8:00 am, our excellent local tour guide and private car will pick you up from your hotel or homestay in Hue city center to start the Hue City Private Tour.
We’ll begin with a delightful private dragon boat trip along the Perfume River to visit the 400-year-old Thien Mu Pagoda, built in 1601 by King Nguyen Hoang.
Our guide will explain the origin of the Perfume River’s name and share ancient stories and a love curse related to this sacred pagoda. Highlights of Thien Mu Pagoda include its Feng Shui setting, Phuc Duyen Tower, the great bell, the giant marble turtle, the three-door gate (Tam Quan Gate), and the Dai Hung temple.
At 10:30 am, we will transfer to the Hue Imperial Citadel complex, which includes the Hue Citadel, Hue Royal City, and the Forbidden City—the former residence and workplace of 13 emperors, concubines, and eunuchs.
As the ancient capital of Vietnam, Hue was a cultural and educational center during the 19th century under the Nguyen Dynasty. Key attractions in the citadel complex include the Nine Holy Cannons, the Noon Gate, the Ngu Phung Palace, the Thai Hoa Palace, the Nguyen Royal Family Temple, the Kien Trung Palace, the Truong Sanh residence, and the Hue Royal Theater.
Around 12:00, we’ll enjoy a lovely lunch at a local restaurant, featuring five Hue specialties, and take a short break.
After lunch, we’ll continue the full-day Hue City Tour by visiting the royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors.
Minh Mang Tomb is a magnificent royal tomb with many meaningful monuments, designed with perfect Feng Shui. It is renowned for its harmonious blend of traditional Vietnamese architecture and natural landscapes.
The tomb complex reflects Emperor Minh Mang’s meticulous planning, featuring serene lakes, intricate sculptures, and beautifully landscaped gardens symbolizing his vision of a peaceful and everlasting resting place. Our guide will reveal a scary secret about the building process of Minh Mang’s tomb.
Lastly, we will visit the stunning Khai Dinh Tomb, the most expensive and beautiful tomb of the Nguyen Dynasty. This unique tomb, known for its fabulous architecture and mosaic decorations, is also the resting place of Emperor Khai Dinh’s coffin.
These days, the Royal Tomb of Khai Dinh is recognized as a new world heritage site. You’ll be amazed by its unique design and intricate details.
